215+ Days For the Children
In response to the events at the Kamloops Indian Residential School, Qwelmínte Secwépemc and its’ signatories acknowledge that our communities, members and organizations are each dealing with the announcement in a manner that is respectful of procedures, protocols and processes. Qwelmínte Secwépemc has compiled a list of resources for our signatories, communities and allies. This list has been populated to ensure that there are supports and educational tools for learners of all ages to process the uncovering of the Kamloops Indian Residential School 215+ Lost Children. We will provide informational materials everyday for 215+ days. This is an opportunity for everyone to learn about the long-lasting and intergenerational effects of the Residential School Systems to support and encourage trauma-informed approaches and conversations. Through this effort, we will be showcasing local resources including: authors, poets and artists from across Turtle Island. Beginning Monday, June 14, 2021, you can follow on our social media (links at the bottom of this page) as we highlight resources daily.
